  • Detail
    • Function / Purpose:
This size 5 letterpress machine is used for letterpress printing. The operating principle of a letterpress is that the paper is pressed on the printing plate's relief onto which ink is applied to make printed matter. Letterpress is a printing process using printing plates with the relief ink area; these plates might be made of different materials, such as a lead-type-composed movable type plate and a photoengraving plate. The maximum size of paper this machine can print is size 5 (about 457X329 mm).
    • Characteristics:
This printing machine belongs to the era after the 1950s, a working machine of Dadi Printing Company. Called "flat-plate rotary press", it consists of a planar table and a circular pressing barrel. It is a high-table-type rotary press with papers fed from above the pressing barrel. Its inking device is of cylindrical type, very popular in Germany and rare in Taiwan. Visitors can compare it with the flat-table-type rotary press commonly used in Taiwan. This collected item is produced in Italy, echoing today’s digital printers. From it, visitors can observe the wisdom underlying the mechanisms of paper feeding, ink applying and transferring.
