古鎖的鑰匙大多配有一個
空白的鑰匙胚，用以保護鑰匙
並可用來打造備份鑰匙。此外，
鑰匙胚亦有助於鎖的開啟；有
些鎖具的鎖體較長，其鑰匙雖
然能夠完成開鎖的動作，但在
施力或拔出時會感不便，鑰匙
胚的存在，可發揮伸長鑰匙的
作用，方便鎖具的開啟。
In most cases, a key blank is
provided with either a simple key or
a compound key to protect the key
and/or for preparing a spare key.
Moreover, a key blank is helpful
for the opening of locks with longer
lengths. It can double the length of
a key, and thus helps pushing the
sliding bolt for opening or pulling
out of the key from the springs.
