Used to inspect taximeters

The running inspection is performed with the driving front wheels (or rear wheels) of the inspected vehicle riding on the rolling barrel of the running inspection facility, which is installed on the ground. The circumference of the rolling barrel is one meter; a signal will be sent out for every revolution, and consequently the actual distance the vehicle's tires have run can be shown on the display of the facility. At the moment when the number of registered fare on the taximeter is flipping, the inspector will compare the distance shown on the display with the mileage number shown on the taximeter; the difference between them is the so-called tolerance, which can be used to determine if the tolerance and the fare displayed on the taximeter are correct or not (based on the local fare structure and regulations).
