  • Detail
    • Function / Purpose:
      Measuring weight for general purposes
    • Characteristics:
A scale measures weight by leverage. When it is in balance, the moments (force multiplied by arm's length) acting on the two sides are equal; since the arms' length are the same, the gravity forces or the weight on both sides are also the same. Place the object to be measured on one side of the scale, and then put the counter weights on the other side; when the balance is reached, one can determine the object's weight by counting the counter weights.
