A steelyard has different names in Taiwan because of its length and weighing capacity. This object belongs to the smallest type which is called "Tinga", used to measure medicine, gold jewelry and other small things. It was a steelyard used in the Japanese colonization period with the maximum weighing capacity of 200 Monmes (750 grams or 0.75 kilogram). (A Monme is a Japanese weight unit; 1 Monme = 3.75 grams = 1 Tsinn (a Tsinn is a Taiwanese weight unit))
